My story as a Disc Jockey began in college where I typically found myself making "mixtapes," being in charge of the music at house parties, spending time at the college radio station, and eventually purchasing my first set of turntables and a mixer. My journey to the DJ profession was a long time coming although it was a natural fit. Music has always been a passion. In my youth, I would listen to the music of Motown, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, and any and all of the contemporary music of the 90s. I was a music junkie and could never get enough, especially if it made me dance.
Upon moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, I met a DJ named Pete Gumaer. He taught me the art of beatmixing and reading a crowd. For four and a half years, he and I were the featured DJs three nights a week at Jillian's in downtown Raleigh. Eventually we found the schedule too much for our families and began a Mobile DJ service. In 2007, I formed my own company. The goal of Eric Herod Entertainment is simple: Create a stress-free environment for couples to turn their wedding reception from a vision to a reality.
